I thought the same. No info on other states. I appreciate the info available but there is no mention of zoning laws in places like California or Oregon, that make it an expensive proposition for building. Especially if you want start with an existing structure and want to build something later. In Oregon it’s rare to be able to build additional structure due to the liberal Californians who moved up there and created state wide zoning laws. There are places in SoCal where it can cost upwards of $20,000 just to hookup utilities. Yes that is if you are connecting to public utilities but it’s still something to be aware of. Anyway, I just file these all into useful info and combine it with my own research.

Mike, I also sell land in Florida (for 32-years) and would like to know where you can legally live “off-grid?” I am in the middle of a project, rating the 67-Florida counties by their position on off-grid, homesteading and the like, my son works for one the largest solar companies in the US, we have done a tone of research and haven’t found one county that will allow you to install solar without being “on-grid!”

I do agree with you about the prices of land, I have very affordable land listed in Florida while it is beautifully peaceful and off the beaten path and high and dry, there is no opportunity to be off-grid!

Please know I am not being arguementative but want to make sure that the information I am about to publish is correct!

I just noticed your comment is from 2018, but the artice is dated July 2020 lol.

More and more people are starting to not have a choice, the government needs to relax the laws so people can live however they want/need to
